KOHAT: Body to tackle dist govt’s problems
KOHAT, May 23: The district council on Friday constituted a body tasked with identifying bottlenecks, specially economic and technical problems, confronting the local government besides presenting viable solutions in this regard, enabling it to remove problems in the smooth running of the system.
Announcing the decision to set up the body at the ongoing session of the district council here, district Nazim Malik Asad urged members of the parliament not to absolve themselves from the responsibilities of local issues, saying that it was vital for the survival of new system.
He said that their interest would yield positive results in this regards.
The Nazim said that the local government was faced with shortage of development funds, adding that human and material support of the non-governmental organisations was required.
Meetings, he said, of the city board would be arranged with the chief of the National Reconstruction Bureau so that the present system could function smoothly, solving problems faced by the common man as well as the elected representatives.
He said that the district government would coordinate with the federal ministries in connection with solving problems like the law and order, highways and electricity supply.
Appreciating the role of the union council members, he said that their active participation had resulted in improved functioning of the government departments.
He ordered the traffic police to remove extra seats from vehicles plying on the Rawalpindi-Peshawar routes, causing hardships to the commuters besides taking strict action against violators. He also requested the provincial government to arrange for an aerial spray anti-mosquito spray in the whole district.
