Fleeing armed men hold woman hostage

ISLAMABAD, Aug 3: A gunman was shot and injured during an encounter with police on Margalla Road.

Policemen, deployed at Margalla Road checkpoint, signaled two persons riding a motorcycle to stop for verification and checking.

But the motorcyclist ignored the signal and tried to speed his vehicle away.

The policemen, however, blocked their way and as a result they slipped. They pulled out their pistols and opened fire on the policemen.

In retaliation, the policemen also started firing and as a result one of the motorcyclists received bullet injuries.

The gunmen kept on firing on the policemen and stopped a Prado being driven by a woman, and held her at gunpoint. They pulled her out of the vehicle and made her a shield to avoid retaliation from police.

Later, they managed to escape in the vehicle, leaving the woman there.

Immediately the police teams were alerted which started search for the gunmen. Later the vehicle was found abandoned in G-11.

Blood stains were also found in the vehicle which had also five bullet holes.

The woman remained unhurt in the incident.
