Floods destroy six houses in Gilgit

GILGIT, May 24: Floods coupled with lightning destroyed at least six houses and damaged two irrigation channels here on Friday night in Oshikhandas village, some 30km south of Gilgit.

Police sources said floods caused no loss of human lives, but destroyed fodder, orchards and standing wheat crop in the village.

Torrential rains that caused the floods in Gilgit also blocked link roads near Jalalabad, Danyore and Oshikhandas.

The floods also damaged cattle pens in Oshikhandas, the sources said.
