Clashes with security forces claim eight lives in Balochistan

QUETTA: At least six suspected militants were killed on Saturday during a security forces' operation in Bolan district's Mach area in Balochistan whereas another two were killed in an attack on a FC checkpost in the Quetta's Ispilanji area, DawnNews reported.

Acting on a tip-off security forces conducted a raid operation in the mountainous Mach area of Balochistan's Bolan district, which is situated eight kilometres from Quetta.

The raid was conducted in connection to investigations into the killing of 14 people in the area last week.

Security forces came under attack while conducting a search operation in the area after which a long exchange of gunfire ensued.

Sophisticated and heavy weaponry was used in the clash from both sides during which six alleged rebels were killed.

Security forces claimed the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of a large number of weapons and ammunition.

In another incident a FC checkpost came under militant attack in Quetta's Ispilanji area on Saturday.

FC personnel resorted to retaliatory firing killing two attackers.

Moreover, earlier during the day, a roadside bomb explosion had killed a Baloch tribal leader, Zra Khan, and injured two of his guards in the province’s Dera Bugti district.

The tribal leader was travelling Sawai from Patokh when a roadside bomb exploded, killing him and injuring his two guards, according to Levies sources.

The remotely-detonated bomb destroyed the car completely.

Security officials reached the spot and cordoned off the area as investigations into the incident went underway.
