Cracker attacks in Dadu, Badin
DADU: More than 50 activists of nationalist parties were arrested on Wednesday across Dadu district after five cracker attacks in Dadu, Seeta and Kakar towns late Tuesday night followed by three more on Wednesday morning.
Five cracker attacks took place on Station Road, near Pace Bakers and Shahi Bazaar while two more took place in Seeta Town amid heavy firing into the air but no causalities were reported.
After the attacks late Tuesday night, the Dadu police conducted raids in different areas and took into custody more than 50 activists of nationalist parties.
More attacks took place on Wednesday morning, when the first cracker exploded near the Girls High School Dadu where preparations were in progress for celebrating Independence Day. The second cracker attack took place in Irrigation Colony and the third in Kakar town when shopkeepers tried to open for business.
The attacks occurred despite heavy presence and patrolling by police officials in Dadu town and surrounding areas. However, the police claimed to have arrested two dozen more suspects.
Meanwhile in Badin district, two crackers were hurled at a garment shop on main Shah Latif Road, near Bilawal Park. One of the crackers exploded but no damage to life or property was reported.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammed Rafique Qureshi and the Rangers personnel arrived at the spot and assured the shopkeeper to resume his business but he refused to open shop.
