Trials to select U-19 football team from today

KARACHI, Aug 18: The trials to select the national team to take part in the qualifiers for the AFC U-19 Championships will be held in Lahore from Aug 19 to Aug 22.

Pakistan are placed in Group ‘C’ of the qualifiers alongside Iraq, Kuwait and Bangladesh. The qualifiers will be held in October in Iraq.

The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has asked each provincial association to send their four top players with each region — Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Fata, Islamabad and Gilgit Baltistan — being asked to send two players.

Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) clubs have been asked to send their two best players in that age bracket and so have been each PFF-affiliated departments.

The selection of the squad will be done by the Technical Study Group which will have the services of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) head coach Nasir Ismail, Pakistan U-16 coach Sajjad Mehmood, Abdul Sattar, Tanveer Ahmad and Nadeem Abdul Rehman.
