PPP urges govt to drop cases against Benazir

KOHAT, May 26: The Pakistan People’s Party while supporting the resolution passed by the provincial assembly has asked the government to drop all fake cases against Benazir Bhutto and allow her to come to Pakistan and participate in the policy making talks on Kashmir issue.

Speaking to the party workers at a meeting held here on Sunday the founding member of the PPP and a close aide of late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Mohammad Fazil Paracha, exhorted the leaders that at this crucial time when Pakistan was passing through a very important phase of history the presence of leaders like Benazir Bhutto was necessary to help the government on the Kashmir issue and put democracy on the right track.

Mr Paracha said that in the absence of the top leadership of various political parties the talks on LFO, dialogue on Kashmir issue and other regional matters could not bear any fruit. Therefore, he said that the government should ensure the presence of leaders in all such discussions and should not make petty issues its ego problem. He said the future of the country and its stability was more important than the continuity of a personal agenda of a military ruler.

He feared that if the status quo continued the major political parties may reject the accords following talks on the Pakistan-India relationship, Kashmir issue and other matters.
