Sony Press Conference Highlights

Cologne, Germany, 20th Aug, 2013 – Sony hosted its press conference for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita platforms before Gamescom was opened to public, showcasing the hardware alongside what their first party and third party developers are working on.

Sony announced a price drop for PS Vita to $199 in the US and €199 in Europe.Sony also told the press that they will be releasing a new 12GB variant of the PlayStation 3 at the same price as the PS Vita.

Apart from a number of indie titles, Sony announced that Assasin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and Watch Dogs will have content exclusive to the PS4.

All games on the PS4 are capable of running on the PS Vita via remote play. Suggesting that connectivity would be of great importance for this feature, Sony stated that they would have strategic partnerships with a number of internet service providers to enable a better online experience.

Borderlands 2, Fez, Big Fest, Murasaki Baby and many more are in line to be launched on the PS Vita.

15 titles are being developed by SCE Worldwide Studios and various software developers and publishers from around the world for the new platform, to be released between the launch of the PlayStation 4 and December 31st. Roughly 180 titles overall are in development for the PS4, and Grand Turismo will be launched on November 6th.

The PlayStation 4 will support Twitch, a live internet streaming service devoted to video gaming.

The computer entertainment system will be launched on November 15th in the US and Canada, where as Europe and ten Latin American countries will get them on the 29th of November.
