CSA plans grand celebrations for Tendulkar’s 200th Test

MUMBAI, Aug 22: India’s master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar is set to be honoured by Cricket South Africa (CSA) in a big way during the legendary player’s possibly last Test series in South Africa.

This was revealed by Chris Nenzani, the CSA president on Thursday. Speaking exclusively over telephone from South Africa, Nenzani said: “We will definitely be honouring this icon of world cricket and we will announce plans after discussions with the BCCI and their national team management.”

Having scored more than 15,000 runs in Tests and an incredible 51 hundreds under his belt, Tendulkar is likely to announce his retirement after this Test. He has already announced his retirement from IPL, ODI cricket and Twenty20s.

The Indian cricket board is yet to approve CSA’s plan to host three Tests, seven ODIs and two Twenty20 matches. The itinerary has been drawn as per ICC’s Future Tours Programme (FTP).

“We are waiting to hear from the BCCI and will make an appropriate announcement in due course,” he added. The BCCI is reported to have reservation over this itinerary announced without consultations.

The CSA official assigned to decide the matches had consulted the BCCI official in London, it is learnt. Strangely enough, BCCI officials have been maintaining their ignorance over the same.
