FC convoy escapes blast in Peshawar
PESHAWAR, Aug 23: A Frontier Constabulary convoy on Friday narrowly escaped a bomb blast on the outskirts of Peshawar.
According to a relevant police official, the explosives were planted in a motorcycle parked along PAF Road near Bazidkhel village in the limits of Badbher police station.
He said the improvised explosive device was detonated by remote control.
The official said the members of the FC convoy remained unhurt as the bomb exploded after they crossed the area.
He said the motorcycle was completely destroyed in the blast. The official said the explosive device weighed around five kilogrammes and had ball bearings besides explosive material.
“The bomb was very powerful but since the area was open and away from the population, its explosion didn’t harm the people,” he said. The official said the convoy was on the way to Kohat from Peshawar. He said after the explosion, the law-enforcement personnel cordoned off the area and began checking the people and vehicles.
The official said police thoroughly searched the nearby locality but made no arrest. — Bureau Report
