Attack on Mengal’s house: case registered

QUETTA: Police on Sunday registered a case against unidentified people for attacking Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal’s house in the Railway Housing Society.

On Saturday night, two hand-grenades were hurled into Sardar Mengal’s house that landed and exploded in the courtyard. The attack did not cause any casualty or major damage to the structure. However, windowpanes were smashed because of the impact of the explosion that rocked the entire area.

“Two hand-grenades exploded inside the house,” police officials said, adding that windowpanes were smashed in the attack.

Sardar Mengal or his family were not present in the house at the time of the attack. Only watchman was there who escaped unhurt.

Talking to reporters on Sunday, Sardar Mengal said that such “cracker blasts cannot scare us. I have no enmity with anybody.”

By using such tactics the elements not happy over the Balochistan National Party’s decision to take part in parliamentary politics wanted to give some message, he said in a reference to forces that are opposed to adopting peaceful ways of achieving rights.

“We are very much in politics to protect the rights of Baloch people and would not run away from the field,” Sardar Mengal said.

The BNP-M leader said he would not compromise on the rights of Balochistan and its people and would continue raising his voice for them.
