Cabinet to be expanded soon, says Dr Malik

QUETTA, Sept 2: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik has denied reports there are differences among the ruling coalition partners over the expansion of cabinet and said the provincial cabinet will be expanded in the next few days.

Talking to journalists here on Monday after holding a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai, the chief minister said his meeting with the two leaders had been fruitful.

He said the three parties in the ruling coalition – the PML-N, PkMAP and National Party – had agreed to expand the cabinet with consensus and work in concert with each other to restore peace in the province, which was a key to development and progress in the province.

In reply to a question, he said the government was facing multi-dimensional problems, including acts of terrorism being committed on sectarian grounds, terrorism against government officials and political leaders, Baloch militancy and tribal disputes.

“We are making all out efforts to resolve all issues,” he said.

The chief minister condemned the grenade attack on the residence of Sardar Akhtar Mengal and said security at the BNP-M chief’s residence had been beefed up.
