Another dengue patient dies in Mingora
MINGORA, Sept 4: Another dengue patient died at Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital here on Wednesday.
Earlier, deaths of three dengue sufferers, including a woman, were reported in Swat district.
According to Dr Wasil Khan, focal person for SGTH, Sabir of Manglawar area died at the isolation ward specified for dengue patients.
He said around hundred residents of Swat had tested positive for dengue in the day.
Dr Wasil said the district had reported 2,000 dengue cases over the last one month.
It is learned that condition of four dengue patients admitted to the hospital is critical and that they have been shifted to the intensive care unit.
According to Dr Wasil, 1,138 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospital since the disease broke out in the district. He said currently, 197 patients, including 133 men, 57 women and seven children, were under treatment at the hospital.
Dr Wasil said the hospital was screening around 500 people for dengue daily.
Also in the day, acting deputy commissioner of Swat Farrukh Attique called a meeting of the representatives of traders to discuss the situation caused by dengue and the progress of the ongoing public awareness campaign.
The traders assured the acting deputy commissioner of complete cooperation and support in the elimination of dengue from the district.
