Karachi violence claims six lives

KARACHI: At least six persons, including a political party worker, were killed in various incidents of violence whereas Rangers and Police personnel arrested 30 suspects and recovered weapons during targeted operations conducted in Karachi.

At least three persons were killed in a gunfiring incident in Orangi town area of Karachi on Tuesday.

Unknown motorcylce-riding gunmen opened fire near Islam chowk in Orangi town area of Karachi killing three persons including an office bearer of a political party.

Fear and panic gripped the area following the shooting and markets and shops were closed in the locality.

Another person was gunned down near Mohajir chowk in thesame area shortly afterthe first incident.

In another incident, a police party allegedly came under attack while conducting an operation in Karachi's Musharraf colony area.

The raiding police party resorted to retaliatory firing which resulted in the death of two suspected dacoits.

Police sources claimed to have recovered two TT pistols and a stolen motorcycle from the possession of the person killed in the encounter.

Meanwhile, a Rangers spokesperson said that 19 suspects were arrested during operations were conducted in Chanesar Goth, Shah Faisal, Green Town, Rasheedabad, Taiser town, North Karachi, Quaid-i-Azam colony and North Nazimabad areas of Karachi.

Police also claimed the arrest of a person involved in heinous crimes from Samanabad area of the city.

Moreover policemen from the city's Baghdadi precint claimed the arrest of eight persons involved in several criminal activities.

Police sources added that two alleged dacoits were arrested within the remit of Karachi's Boat Basin area.

Earlier on Monday, police had claimed to have detained four militants belnging to the procribed Lashkar-i-Jhangvi outfit and five target killers (hitmen) during operations conducted in Karachi.
