Four more polio cases detected in Dadu

DADU, May 31: Four more polio cases have been detected in four villages of Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka.

The victims included Wakeel Ahmed, 5, son of Abdul Hakeem Khanhoro (village Kario Ghulamullah), Kulsoom, 6, daughter of Ghulamullah Bhurgari (village Yar Muhammad Bhurgari), 14-month- old Hasibullah, son of Dongar Solangi (village Pario), 10-month- old Baby Amina, daughter of Ashiq Khoso (village Raman Khoso).

The parents of Baby Amina and Hasibullah told this correspondent that the teams of the health department had twice visited their villages during the immunization campaign but their children were not administrated polio drops properly.

Ms Maria of the WHO and the EDO Health Dr Moula Bux Jamali visited the affected villages on Saturday and examined the patients.

The EDO health said that cases of baby Amina and Hasibullah were confirmed while anything regarding the cases of Wakeel Ahmed and Kulsoom could be said after the laboratory tests.

He said that polio drive would be launched in the district from June 2 to 5.

SHOT DEAD: Ms Rehana, 17, daughter of Sikandar Lakhir, was shot dead by her uncle Nawab Lakhir on the pretext of Karo-kari in village Lakhir near Tharari Mohabbat town on Saturday.

The police on the complaint of girl’s father registered an FIR against the killer and arrested him.

GUTTED: Ten shops were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in Khairpur Nathan Shah town on Friday night. The fire started from a shop of carpenter, Ghulam Haider, and spread to other shops due to strong winds.

It took 10 hours to put out the fire.
