‘Robber’ shot dead in Orangi

KARACHI, Sept 24: A suspected robber was shot dead by a robbery victim in self-defence in Orangi Town on Tuesday morning, police said.

They said that two armed men snatched a motorcycle and other valuables from Mohammed Jamil, owner of an oil shop, in Orangi Town’s Sector-10 when he was returning home after dropping his children to school. They were fleeing on the snatched bike when the robbery victim pulled out his licensed pistol and fired at them. One of the armed men suffered bullet wounds and fell from the bike. However, his accomplice fled on the snatched motorbike, said the Mominabad police.

The wounded man was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared him dead. He was identified as Barak Anwar, 24. Mominabad SHO Ahmed Butt said that the robbery victim killed the bandit in self-defence and a case was registered on his complaint.

Fisherman found shot dead

A young fisherman was found shot dead in the Sukhan area. Police said that the bullet-riddled body of Shabbir Maula Bux, 22, was found on Rerhi Road.

The victim was a fisherman and resident of the same area.

The police suspected some personal enmity as a likely motive for the murder.

Robbers kill man upon resistance

A government employee was killed by robbers upon resistance on the Native Jetty Bridge on Tuesday, police said.

They said that Mohammad Asif, 34, was riding a motorcycle when two armed men, also riding a motorbike, intercepted him to snatch his mobile phones and cash. The man put up resistance and the armed robbers fired at him and fled.
