Cook-it-yourself: Doughnuts

Ingredients

Flour 2 cups

Caster sugar 1 tbsp

Yeast 1 tsp

Butter 50 gm

Egg 1

Milk powder 2 tbsp

Water As required

Method

In a bowl mix flour, caster sugar, yeast and milk powder. Add butter and egg in the dry ingredients.

Then knead into a smooth, soft dough using as much water as required. Leave the dough to rise for an hour at room temperature.

After an hour, punch the dough again and form a ball.

Roll the dough in half-inch thick sheet.

Cut the shape of doughnuts with a doughnut cutter or in any of your favourite shape.

Leave these cut-outs to rest again for 20 to 30 minutes.

Deep fry each doughnut in hot oil for just one minute.

When cooled, dip one side of doughnut in melted chocolate, decorate with your choice of sprinkles.
