Chakwal pasport office woes
CHAKWAL, Oct 4: Despite the fact that the federal government gets a monthly revenue of Rs115 million from regional passport office Chakwal, the office has been unable to deposit three-month electricity bill of Rs21,500, it has been learnt.
As a result, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has cut off the electricity of the passport office and now generator is providing power to it.
The irony is that the generator consumed Rs20,000 diesel per month but the office could not pay Rs21,000 electricity bill of three months.
“We are getting diesel on a card issued by interior ministry but the finance department did not approve electricity bill for three months”, an official said.
Besides electricity, the office has run short of staff.
It needs three data entry operator to meet the heavy task of preparing 150 passports on daily basis but there is only one data entry operator.
“We are forced to give the task of entering data to the security guards, who commit many mistakes but we have no other option”, the official said. — Correspondent
