Projects for women uplift assured

ABBOTTABAD, June 2: National Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Muhammad has said the government has planned to set up community and technical trade centres for women in Abbottabad district.

Speaking to newsmen at the local press club, he stated that huge funds were being allocated in the next Annual Development Programme for infrastructure and provision of furniture and laboratory equipment for schools, especially for girls institutions.

The National Assembly deputy speaker told the press conference on Monday that Rs40 millions were earmarked for the construction of four bridges in the district, out of this Rs20 millions would be used in forthcoming fiscal year.

Ten new telephones exchanges to be installed in fiscal 2003-04, were also approved for the district, he said.

The deputy speaker said the authorities had taken strong notice of the installation of high power transmitter of Abbottabad Radio station at Mir Pur Radio station as the Rs4 million transmitter imported for Mir Pur station was lying idle. The ministry concerned had been asked to transfer the Abbottabad’s transmitter without any delay, he told the mediamen.

He said seven transformers were put at the disposal of local Wapda office, which would either be installed at new points or could be used as replacement of out-of-order transformers.
