US renews counter-terror help offer

ISLAMABAD, Oct 14: US Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan James Dobbins renewed on Monday his government’s offer to help Pakistan in its counter-terrorism strategy as he visited Islamabad for preparing the agenda for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s coming visit to Washington.

“Pakistan can benefit from institutional cooperation between the two countries on security-related issues,” a statement from Ministry of Interior quoted Mr Dobbins as having said during his meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

Mr Dobbins also met Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz.

Prime Minister Sharif is scheduled to meet President Barack Obama on Oct 23.

The interior minister underlined the importance of institutional cooperation between the two countries in capacity building of law-enforcing agencies, the statement said.
