Indian firing kills two in Sialkot

SIALKOT, Oct 18: Two people, among them a Ranger, were killed and two others injured in firing by Indian forces from across the Sialkot Working Boundary on Thursday and Friday, sources said.

They said a villager, Muhammad Sajjad Ali, died while villagers Muhammad Iqbal and Bashir Ahmed were injured when India’s Border Security Force fired at targets in Harpal sector on Friday evening.

According to the Chenab Rangers, the injured were sent to the Combined Military Hospital, Sialkot, for treatment. The BSF personnel had used heavy machine guns.

The sources added that Israr Ali of the Chenab Rangers died of wounds sustained in firing on villages in Chaprar sector on Thursday.

AP adds: In a separate incident a soldier was killed by militants near the border with Afghanistan in South Waziristan, a military official said.

The military has been battling militants in the tribal areas who want to establish an Islamic state.
