Five die of heatstroke in Sahiwal
SAHIWAL, June 4: At least five people died and six others fell unconscious when temperatures touched 47 degree C here on Wednesday.
Reports said Manzoor Ahmad, 20, and Khurshid Bibi, 25, fell unconscious while going somewhere. They died after some time at hospital.
While Shahmand, Rehmat Ali and Muhammad Amir suffered heatstroke and taken to the District Headquarters Hospital where they breathed their last.
Six other people reportedly fainted because of exposure to intense heat. They are being treated at hospital.
SCHOOL’S AUDIT: A chartered accountants’ firm has been asked to audit the accounts of Divisional Public School being run under the Sahiwal Educational Trust and supervised by 15 former deputy commissioners of the district.
This was stated by District Nazim Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan at a press conference held at the committee room here on Wednesday.
The Nazim pointed out that the DPS has been collecting millions of rupees as donations and charging high fees, but its audit was being postponed for quite some time.
He also told newsmen that a special audit had been ordered into the accounts of Anjuman Falah-i-Mareezan at the DHQ Hospital.
He said 45 acres had been acquired for the agriculture college local branch. Besides, the Punjab government has assured provision of Rs100 million for the construction projects in the district in the next fiscal year.
