ISLAMABAD, Oct 22: A three-member team of senior police officers supervising the investigation of a double murder case against former president Pervez Musharraf will meet on Thursday after the complainant nominated more people in the FIR, sources told Dawn on Tuesday.

The sources said the meeting was called by DIG Khalid Khattak, the head of the team, to examine the evidence and prepare guidelines for the investigation.

On Monday, the complainant, Haroon Rasheed, submitted a statement to the Aabpara police in which he also nominated former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Sherpao, state minister Tariq Azim, ex-chief commissioner Khalid Pervez, former deputy commissioner Mohammad Ali, assistant commissioners Hussain Bahadar, Ajmal Bukhari, Farukh Nadeem and Tariq Rahim Haidary, former IGP Chaudhry Iftikhar, joint secretary interior Mohammad Zafeer Abbasi, former secretary interior Kamal Shah and ex-chairman CDA Kamran Lashari.

The complainant also submitted evidence against the accused to prove their involvement in the 2007 Lal Masjid operation and killing of cleric Ghazi Abdul Rasheed, his mother Sabiha Khatoon and others.

The murder case against the former military ruler was registered on September 2.

Spokesman for the Lal Masjid Shuhada Foundation Ihtesham Ahmed told Dawn that the evidence included correspondence between the officers of the then city administration and the interior ministry to call the army for the operation.

“We also submitted some video recording of private gatherings in which Musharraf had talked about the operation,” he added.
