Karachi Blues dismissed for 156, Aamir’s ton puts Multan in lead
KARACHI, Nov 1: For the second game running, reigning champions Karachi Blues conceded first-innings lead when Bahawalpur dismissed them for a paltry 156 on the second day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship match at the National Stadium here on Friday.
The Blues, who also behind Abbottabad in the drawn opening-round fixture last week, put up another deplorable batting performance to give the visitors a meaningful lead of 102 runs.
Bahawalpur reached 27-2 in their second innings to enjoy an overall cushion of 129 runs at the halfway stage.
Ex-international Mansoor Amjad remained unbeaten with 113 as Sialkot added 100 to their overnight score of 213-6 against Peshawar at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot.
Peshawar went to stumps to 153-4, while still needing 161 to over the home team’s total.
Hosts Rawalpindi put themselves in a dominant position by posting 267-4 in reply to Abbottabad’s modest tally of 192 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
An undefeated 153 from Aamir Yamin, who adorned his 183-ball knock with 13 boundaries and one six, guided Multan to an impressive 340-7 in response to Quetta’s 244 at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Islamabad were left fighting for ascendancy when they made 245-6 after bowling out Karachi Whites for 335 at the Diamond Club Ground in the federal capital. Opener Afaq Raheem contributed 89.
Lahore Shalimar also found themselves in some bother as they struggled to 137-5 while replying to Faisalabad’s 220 at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.
