Main procession in Chakwal ends peacefully

CHAKWAL, Nov 12: One of the sensitive processions of Muharram passed peacefully in Chakwal City on Tuesday.

The procession was taken out from Central Imambargah located in Sarpak locality which ended at Imambargah Mahajreen Sadat on Bhoun Road.

A majlis was held at Chhapar Bazaar where religious scholars highlighted the courage and patience of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions.

Foolproof security measures were adopted by Chakwal police on the occasion.

Scores of volunteers also performed their duty.

The city was sealed from Government High School No. 1 Chakwal on Talagang Road, Government Islamia High School, Bhoun Road and Tehsil Chowk.

Besides, all streets leading to the procession route were also closed. Walkthrough gates, metal detectors and CCTV cameras were installed.

Meanwhile in a drive against pillion riding 30 motorcyclists were arrested in the district.

District Coordination Officer Yawar Hussain has imposed a ban on pillion riding till Muharram 10. — Correspondent
