Victim of acid attack dies after 3 days

ATTOCK: An 18-year-old girl, who had been struggling for three days in the hospital after her cousin attacked her with acid, died on Friday night, police said.

They maintained that the woman had refused her cousin’s marriage proposal.

Police said the woman, a resident of Jatial Village of Hazro police station, was home on Wednesday when her cousin entered the house holding a bottle of acid.

The accused, who had arrived at the village from Karachi, allegedly threw the acid on his cousin’s face to seek vengeance as she had refused to marry him.

Later on, the accused escaped from the scene and police believe he has fled to Karachi.

The victim sustained serious burns on her face and other body parts, and was initially rushed to the Burn Unit at Wah cantonment hospital before being shifted to the Holy family Hospital Rawalpindi.

However, she succumbed to her injuries late Friday evening.

Initially the Hazro Police had registered an acid-attack case against the accused after the victim’s family reported the incident, but following her death, the FIR was amended and a murder case was registered.

Further investigations in the incident are underway.
