Mohsin slams PCB for selecting ‘unfit’ players
ISLAMABAD, Nov 19: Former coach Mohsin Khan on Tuesday felt awkward for Shoaib Malik and Abdul Razzaq who were declared unfit for the South Africa tour after being named in the Pakistan squad just a few days ago.
Shoaib and Razzaq were declared unfit for the South Africa tour on Tuesday.
Both cricketers were part of Pakistan’s 15-man squad which was named for the series.
Pakistan will play two Twenty20s and three ODIs against South Africa on the tour.
Mohsin, who was a former chief selector, said it seemed awkward that they (PCB) select someone one day and drop him the very next day.
“If they (Shoaib and Razzaq) were unfit then why did the selectors include them in the squad?” he said.
Mohsin further questioned the PCB whether they conducted fitness test of the players while selecting them for a series.
“I request the PCB to include youngsters now in the squad in place of Shoaib and Razzaq,” he added.
Mohsin further said the PCB should also give a chance to ex-captain Younis Khan in the SA series.
“Younis is a talented player and I feel the blend of youth and experience can make the team formidable,” he said.
While praising captain Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohsin said many ex-cricketers and others had been criticising him for his strike rate but I believe that without Misbah the team could not perform up to the mark.—APP
