Vintagecar rally stopover in Bahawalpur
BAHAWALPUR, Nov 22: The vintage and classic car rally passed through the city on Friday.
The rally being organised by the Vintage and Classic Car Club of Pakistan (VCCCP) was on its way from Karachi to Peshawar (Khyber Pass).
Led by VCCCP founder president Mohsin Ikram, fifteen classic cars owned by its members left Karachi on Wednesday. Gambat was its first stopover, which was followed by Bahawalpur city.
Mrs Mohsin Ikram told Dawn that some members of their caravan reached the city on Thursday night while other came on Friday.
She said their journey would continue and the caravan would reach Peshawar on Nov 30.
The club would stage a car show at Serena Hotel, Islamabad on Nov 26, she said.
The cars included dark green Morris MG, shiny red MG-A, red Ford Mustang Humber Hawk, silver 1948 MG and maroon 1966 Peugeot 404.
The club introduced the rally in 2010 to create awareness among people about the need for the preservation of heritage on wheels, and provide an opportunity to the young and old alike to pursue a hobby.
