Herald | Talking Points: What will 2014 hold for Pakistan?

The outgoing year was one of anticipation and anxiety for what comes next. We saw the transfer of power to new leadership post the general election after five years of democratic governance but we continue to witness sectarian violence and targeted killings rising to new heights. We have new and improved bilateral trade agreements with European countries but we continue to suffer crippling energy shortages.

While the econimic situation still remains precarious, the arts are increasingly bringing delight to the country through works recognised both nationally and internationally.

We saw change initiate now we hope to see it take effect.

For Herald’s upcoming issue, a number of writers, commentators and intellectuals are being asked:

“What will 2014 hold for Pakistan?”

In the following sectors:

Economy

Politics

Culture & Arts

Human Rights

Environment

Dawn.com invites its readers to answer the question above. Selected comments will be published in the upcoming issue of the Herald.
