Campaigners for ‘missing’ persons enter Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A caravan of The Voice of Missing Persons was accorded a warm welcome by activists of nationalist and religious parties and workers of non-governmental organisations on the outskirts of Hyderabad district on Tuesday.

Rose petals were showered on the caravan participants, including families of missing persons, who set off from Quetta 40 days ago on foot led by Mama Qadeer Baloch and Farzana Baloch.

Carrying pictures of the missing Baloch persons on a pushcart with a banner tagged to it, they were demanding that the UN play its role in the safe recovery of their ‘abducted’ near and dear ones.

Leaders and activists of Sindh National Party, Sunni Tehreek, Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz, Jamaat-i-Islami and workers of NGOs received the protesters at Husri Mor where they would stay and take a round of Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mama Qadeer and Farzana Baloch said they had arrived at Hyderabad after visiting many districts and parts of Balochistan and Sindh.

They vowed to visit Islamabad, stage a sit-in outside the UN mission office where they would appeal for the safe return of the missing persons.
