Mobile snatching

MOBILE phone snatching has been on the rise in Karachi. About 3,000 cases are reported every month. In spite the rampant snatching, the law-enforcement agency has done nothing about it.

In many cases the perpetrator also snatches cash and other valuables from their victims.

I am also the victim of this crime. My mobile phone was snatched at gunpoint by two unidentified men near Nazimabad. I handed over my mobile without any resistance because I was helpless.

What should we do individually to protect ourselves? The authorities have never tried to solve such issues. Should we all start carrying arms ourselves, or allow these snatchers to rob us at will?

The government must take some concrete steps to root out this crime.
