Cases against 90 housing schemes in Gujranwala
GUJRANWALA: The district administration ordered on Friday cases against the owners of 90 illegal housing societies for illegal constructions and failure to meet legal modalities.
According to officials, the district administration received complaints that owners of housing societies were going ahead with their construction plans without the approval of maps from municipalities.
The district administration got published the names of illegal societies in national dailies and warned the owners to get the legal procedures done.
As the societies overlooked warnings and continued with the construction work and trade of plots, District Coordination Officer Azmat Mahmood took serious note of it and ordered registration of cases against them.
Municipal town officers have been told to prepare plaints against the owners of these housing societies to be forwarded to police in two days.
ACE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) registered cases on Friday against the district taxation officer and five revenue officials for corruption in tax collection.
The ACE acted on complaints that District Taxation Officer Omair Dildar collected tax from 300 hoarding boards’ owners and misappropriated Rs24.6 million with the connivance of his subordinates through issuing fake receipts to taxpayers.
An ACE inquiry committee consisting of ACE Assistant Director Eitezaz Muneer Gondel and Engineer Tariq Aziz Awan investigated the matter and came up with corruption cases against Dildar and revenue officials of the Gujranwala City District Government, Kamoki, Naushera Virkan and Wazirabad.
The officials are Farhan Ashraf, Allah Ditta, Muhammad Sarwar, Sajid Hameed and Muhammad Aslam Dogel.
The ACE also registered a corruption and fraud case against Narowal Provincial Highway Sub-Division Officer Shahid Dar.
EXPLOSION: Four people, including two brothers, suffered burn wounded in a gas cylinder explosion in a shop on Friday.
The cylinder exploded in a shop leaving brothers Tanvir and Asif injured in Farid Town.
Two passersby -- Sultan and Muneer Ahmad – also suffered burn wounds and all were shifted to district headquarters hospital where Tanvir was stated to be in serious condition. He was shifted to Mayo Hospital in Lahore.
