A “dirty conspiracy” in Haripur
PESHAWAR: “The Haripur [communal clash] is very regrettable indeed and is understood to be the result of a conspiracy to defame the Ministry and bring it into bad blood with the Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims. The Ministry will never bear this and is determined to unearth this dirty conspiracy,” observed Sardar Ajit Singh, Minister of P.W.D. in an interview on his return from Haripur.
He said that Sardar Aurangzeb Khan, Chief Minister, and he had extensively toured the area and found that sensible elements unreservedly condemned the burning of a Gurdwara.
He was glad to say that the Ministry had immediately placed money at the disposal of Major Bedi, Deputy Commissioner, Hazara, for the reconstruction of the Gurdwara.
It is now learnt that during the communal fracas at Haripur on Sunday last two Sikhs and one Muslim were killed. The Chief Minister Sardar Aurangzeb Khan said that it was the duty of every Mussalman that the culprits should be made to surrender. The individuals who had brought a bad name to the nation were great sinners and would be punished severally both in the Kingdom of Heaven and by the earthly Government. (Dawn, Delhi)
