Army chief awards souvenir to Afridi

LAHORE: Pakistan Army chief Gen Raheel Sharif awarded on Tuesday a souvenir to veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi for his services to national cricket during his 17 years long international career.

Afridi met the army chief at the GHQ, Rawalpindi to receive the souvenir.

Later, in a press statement, Afridi thanked the army chief for honouring him with a shield.

The all-rounder said it was a great honour for him to meet with the army chief and having his praise over his international career.

During his 17-year ODI career, Afridi represented Pakistan in 373 matches, scoring 7,516 runs besides taking 375 wickets. He has also played 70 T20 matches scoring 1,044 runs besides claiming 73 wickets.

In 27 Test matches, Afridi scored 1,716 and captured 48 wickets.

Also, he held the world record of scoring the fastest century against Sri Lanka which has broken recently by a Kiwi all-rounder Corey Anderson.
