Siraj raps power minister

FAISALABAD: Sirajul Haq of Jamaat-i-Islami, who is senior minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's coalition government led by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf has sought removal of state minister for water and power Abid Sher Ali, alleging he was weakening the federation.

He was talking to reporters here on Sunday after addressing a gathering organised by the Islami Jamiat-i-Tulaba. He said Abid Sher Ali was misleading the nation by terming the KP people electricity pilferers though the minister after assuming the charge only thrice visited the province.

He said line losses of Punjab were 75 million units of electricity while those of KP were only 48 million units. The KP, he said, had been producing 18 million units and was getting only eight million units for consumption.

Haq said the approach of the state minister was 'anti-federation' and the message he had been sending from Punjab to KP was creating negative impact in the province.

He urged the federal government to replace the minister with some 'sensible person' and also take steps to allay the growing sense of deprivation among small provinces.
