Urgent gas connections

THE federal government is determined to slowly close down CNG stations in the country while curtailing gas supplies to industry as well, maintaining a consistent gas supply to domestic consumers to be the top priority now.

A couple of months ago the ministry of petroleum and natural resources had announced urgent fee gas connections at the rate of Rs25,000 to facilitate domestic consumers in getting urgent connections. It was also done to curb corruption and to eliminate connections through illegal means.

This was a wise step of the ministry concerned. It is unfortunate that implementation of urgent fee connection has not come into force as yet after a lapse of several months followed by a news item in this regard (Jan 1), stating that a meeting between Ogra and SNGPL would be held in Lahore on Jan 16.

The federal government is requested to look into the matter and advise the quarters concerned for prompt action in this regard.
