Kalam roads reopen after snow cleared
MINGORA: The district administration with the help of army has removed snow from different roads in Kalam valley and reopened them to traffic.
Officials said that the main Kalam road, which connects the valley to Mingora city, and all the link roads in the valley, including Kalam-Osho and Gabral roads, had been reopened to traffic.
They said there was no shortage of food items and medicines in Kalam bazaar and civil hospital.
ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: The Swat district administration has set up 1,209 teams to vaccinate about 0.4 million children below five years of age during the anti-polio campaign starting from February 24.
A meeting held here on Wednesday and chaired by deputy commissioner Syed Imtaiz Hussian Shah discussed all necessary arrangements to make the three-day drive a success. Health and DWO officials were also in attendance.
A health official informed the meeting that the anti-polio campaign would be carried out in all the 65 union councils of the district. He said that the three-day campaign would be followed by a one day activity to cover the missed children.
PROJECTS COMPLETED: National Sports Coalition (NSC), Pakistan has completed water supply, electricity and irrigation projects in Bahrain union council.
Swat assistant commissioner Mohammad Arif Khan Yousafzai, inaugurated three projects the other day. The projects have been funded by the Singapore Red Cross through Life Community Development, according to a press release issued here on Wednesday.
Six villages have been provided with drinking water by a 27,000ft long pipeline connected to eight water tanks, benefiting thousands of people, especially women, who fetched water from far off areas.
Besides, a 50KVA power project has been made functional by installing a generator at Mankial area, and a 3.5km long irrigation channel rehabilitated to provide water to agricultural lands of Ramit, Torwal and Ayeen villages.
