Four gunned down in Mardan

MARDAN: Four persons were killed and one was injured when unidentified attackers opened fire on a car in Mardan city on the night between Saturday and Sunday.

Police said the victims were returning from the shrine of a saint after attending his annual urs when they came under attack.

The victims included Jan Ali of Rustam city, Ziyarat Gul of Mashin Koroona, Anwar Khan and Ali of Darab Kallay, while the injured was identified as Mohammad Ali of Hoti area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the attack occurred at Chato chowk in the city limits around 1:30am. The attackers escaped after the incident.

Rescue officials shifted the victims to district headquarters hospital, Mardan.

The police lodged FIR against unidentified killers and began investigation.
