Four killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Four people were killed in different incidents of violence in Karachi, DawnNews reported on Monday.

One person was killed due to firing in Orangi Town's Chishti Nagar. The deceased was said to be associated with a religious party. The victim’s body was shifted to a hospital.

Meanwhile, a man was severely wounded as a result of firing by unknown assailants in Orangi Town’s Sector 11. He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital where he had been admitted for treatment.

Separately, bodies of two men bearing torture marks were recovered from Pak Colony near Rexer bridge. The victims, who could not be identified, had been shot dead. Their bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism. Targeted operations led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by federal, military and civilian agencies.
