Security checks at flyover near PHC

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa home secretary to consult security experts regarding the security apprehensions related to an under-construction Mufti Mahmood Flyover passing along the court, and submit the report to it.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Mian Fasihul Mulk and Justice Qaiser Rasheed was hearing a writ petition field by the Peshawar High Court Bar Association through its president Ishtiaq Ibrahim, stating that the flyover was a threat to the security of the high court.

The court directed the home secretary to consult the security experts and decide what steps were adopted for the security of the high court on the flyover. Mr Ibrahim contended that the flyover was very close to the high court building and could be used by terrorists.

Additional advocate general Qaiser Ali Shah stated that according to the Peshawar Development Authority there would be a one-metre tall concrete safety wall running along the flyover whereas a two-meter tall safety grill would be erected on the said wall.
