Samiul Haq speaks to media today

NOWSHERA: Coordinator of Taliban negotiation committee Maulana Yousaf Shah has said that now the ball is in the government’s court as Taliban have announced unilateral ceasefire before resuming the peace process.

He said that Maulana Samiul Haq, chief of the Taliban negotiation committee, was on a foreign tour and would arrive at the Peshawar airport on Monday (today) to lead the peace talks.

Maulana Yousaf while talking to Dawn on Sunday said that they had arranged a press conference at the airport at 12 noon (Monday) where Maulana Sami would speak about the latest situation in the country regarding the new development after the announcement of ceasefire by Taliban.

“We are hopeful about the success of peace negotiation between the government and Taliban. It would be bad luck of the country if the process of negotiation ended without any positive result,” he said.

He claimed that a meeting between the Taliban committee and government might be held in coming few days. —Correspondent
