Kasur uplift projects to take off soon

KASUR: Work on five mega projects worth Rs1.62 billion would soon be started in Kasur.

This was disclosed by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Javaid Iqbal Bukhari while talking to journalists at his office on Monday. The DCO said under a special package of the chief minister, a 10-kilometre-long and 60-feet-wide dual carriage bypass linking Ferozepur Road to Deepalpur road would be constructed with Rs1.1 billion. He further claimed the bypass would help decrease traffic on intercity roads besides reducing the distance for commuters.

He further said LED lights on 10 intercity link roads would be installed for Rs100 million and the Lahore Development Authority would be responsible for the task. An overhead bridge, drains and LED lights would be installed in Chunian tehsil for Rs100 million, the DCO added. He also said a 26-acre park for women and children in Phoolnagar, Pattoki would be built with Rs50 million.

Bukhari said 115 water filtration plants would be installed in the district out of which 10 had been funded by a philanthropist. He said areas around tanneries that had contaminated water would be on priority and a preliminary survey had been completed in this regard. The project would cost Rs270 million. — Correspondent
