Six troops killed, 8 injured in Kurram blast

PARACHINAR: Six security personnel were killed and eight others injured in a roadside blast in the Kurram tribal region on Wednesday, official sources and eyewitnesses said.

A security convoy was going from Hangu to Kurram when a blast ripped through one of its vehicles at Warmagai area in central Kurram.

The sources said that a roadside improvised explosive device detonated by remote control had hit the vehicle.

Three Frontier Corps personnel were killed on the spot and 11 others injured. Three of the injured succumbed to injuries while being taken to hospital. The other injured were airlifted to the CMH, Peshawar.

Security forces cordoned off the area after the incident and started a search operation.

AFP adds: The Ansarul Mujahideen militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.
