‘6,800 tonnes of wheat to be procured in Thatta’
THATTA: The district administration fixed a procurement target of 6,800 tonnes of wheat from district Abadgars and in this connection a campaign was launched here on Tuesday.
This was stated by Thatta Deputy Commissioner Aga Shah Nawaz Babar while presiding over a meeting of food department officials, millers and Abadgars here at Darbar Hall Makli on Tuesday.
The DC said, as per the wheat procurement policy of the Sindh government, the district government would procure a 100kg bag at Rs3,000 from the Abadgars who would also be supplied Bardana (gunny bags) for the purpose, adding that none of the incharges of procurement centres would be allowed to supply Bardana to the Abadgars without the prior permission of the district food controller.
He told the participants that in this connection eight wheat procurement centres had been set up in Thatta, Jherruk, Karo Khooh, Mirpur Sakhro and other sites of taluka headquarters in the district where Additional Commissioner-1 Abid Saleem Qureshi had been designated as focal person.
