Nato oil tanker torched, driver killed in Balochistan

QUETTA: Armed militants torched a Nato oil tanker and killed its driver in Balochistan's Dhadar area on Friday, levies official said.

A levies official, who requested anonymity since he was not authorised to speak to the media, told Dawn.com that militants opened fire at the oil tanker in Bypass area of Dhadar.

He said driver of the tanker was killed and one of his companions was injured in the attack. The militants escaped unhurt from the spot, he added.

The levies official said that the tanker caught fire soon after the firing. “Roaring flames of fire could be seen from quite far away,” he said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Militants have been targeting Nato supplies in Balochistan for last more than seven years. Most of the Nato supplies were attacked in Bolan, Khuzdar, Kalat, Naseerabad, Quetta, Killa Abdullah and other areas of the militancy-hit province which is also rife with a separatist insurgency and sectarian violence.

So far no group has claimed the responsibility for these attacks.
