Security forces killing men: TTP

MIRAMSHAH: The outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan has accused security forces of continuing to arrest and kill the TTP men during the month-long ceasefire that ended on March 31.

Talking to Dawn by phone from an unspecified location on Wednesday, TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said that TTP’s political shura was holding meetings to decide whether to extend or end the truce.

“The government hasn’t demonstrated any commitment to abiding by the ceasefire and three of our members who had been arrested two days ago were killed by security forces. Their bodies were found in Lakki Marwat, Swat and Kohat,” he alleged.

He said that about 100 innocent people had been picked up on suspicion of having links with Taliban. “Seven persons were arrested in Kurram Agency for playing host to me despite the fact that I have not visited the agency for two years,” he alleged.

He said the TTP shura would take into account the alleged violation of the ceasefire by security forces. Taliban, he said, were serious about peace talks but it was the government which did not show seriousness and fulfil the conditions of ceasefire.
