Land dispute claims 7 lives in Bannu

BANNU/PESHAWAR: Seven people, including a woman, were killed and three others injured in a clash between two groups over a land dispute in Bannu on Friday.

Police and residents said the clash between two families occurred in Baghan Shiekhan area in limits of Saddar police station. They said both sides used heavy and light weapons against each other.

The police said five people were killed from one side and two from the other. The bodies and injured were taken to DHQ hospital, Bannu.

The deceased included Niaz Ali Shah, Roidar Ali Shah, Yousaf Ali Shah, Amir Ali Shah and Sonai Naz from one side, and Farooq Shah and Niaz Shah from the other.

The injured were identified as Gul Jamal Shah, Saddam and Jamal Shah. The police began investigation after lodging the FIR.

Meanwhile, one person was killed and a police constable was injured in an alleged police encounter with outlaws at Mohammadzai village in Peshawar on Friday evening.

A Chamkani police official said outlaws opened fire on police during a routine patrol, forcing police to return the fire in which a proclaimed offender identified as Khan Sahib was killed.

He added a constable Mukamil Shah was injured in the incident. He said accomplices of the PO escaped.

Meanwhile, KP Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani has suspended SHO Kot Najeebullah police station of Haripur and an investigation officer for implicating two innocent citizens in a false case.
