Court orders registration of case against Meera
LAHORE: A sessions court in Lahore ordered the registration of cases against actor Meera and Capt Naveed over charges of filming and uploading on social media a ‘controversial video clip’, DawnNews reported.
Additional district and sessions judge, Safdar Ali Bhatti, resumed the hearing over the petition filed against the actor but Meera and Capt Naveed failed to appear for the hearing despite earlier summons issued by the court.
The petitioner had claimed that the controversial video of the couple which was leaked out and posted on the internet had brought disrepute to the nation.
Owing to their absence, the court ordered the registration of cases at Lahore's Mozang police station and instructed for strict action to be taken against the two.
The court also directed police to inform it once the case was registered.
Meera has denied the video’s authenticity and has called it as an attempt to undermine her position and credibility.
She had also alleged that those behind the video were trying to conspire against her, mainly because she has been working on the construction of a hospital.
After the release of the video, rumours also surfaced regarding her separation from Captain Naveed, which were denied.
