UN-funded drainage plan for four districts
BAHAWALPUR: The Punjab government in coordination with UN body “Global Sanitation Fund” will launch a drainage project in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur districts.
This was told at a meeting of the fund officials with the district administration here on Monday.
At the initial stage, the project would be undertaken in Bahawalpur district. Under the project, committees would be formed at union council level. And its members would be imparted training to create awareness among people about cleanliness. A system to monitor the performance of these committees and their members would also be introduced. The committees with good performance would also be awarded by the global sanitation fund.
ENERGY CRISIS: Federal Minister for Provincial Coordination, Sports and Youth Affairs Mian Riaz Husain Peerzada has linked the resolution of energy crisis in the country with the completion of five-year term of the PML-N government.
He was addressing party workers on Sunday night at Hasilpur, about 90-km from here. Peerzada said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was making efforts to resolve the crises.
The energy crisis, he said, could be overcome if the government completed its tenure. He expressed the hope that the next budget would ensure solution to people’s problems.
The minister said the government had prioritised terrorism and wanted to resolve it. MPA Afzal Gill and other leaders also addressed the gathering.
