Pakistan snooker squad to compete in Asian event

KARACHI: Pakistan snooker team comprising three cueists and an official will fly to Dubai on way to Fujairah on Friday to compete in the 30th Asian snooker championship being held there from April 26 to May 3.

The team has been picked on the basis of performance of players in the 39th National snooker championship that took place in the city last month.

Mohammad Asif Toba humbled defending champion Hamza Akbar 8-4 in the best of 15 frames final to land his maiden national title. Third player Asjad Iqbal is the losing semi-finalist and presently ranked third in the national rankings.

Meanwhile, a short training camp of UAE bound cueists in preparation for the upcoming event commenced at Karachi Gymkhana on Saturday and will continue till Thursday.
